Lauretha Vaird

Police Officer Vaird was responding to a radio call of a silent alarm of a PNC Bank branch at 4710 Rising Sun Avenue in the Feltonville section of Philadelphia. A gunman already inside the bank was aware of her approach, and hiding behind the front door as she entered the bank. Within seconds, the offender shot and killed Officer Vaird. She was 44 years-old, served with the Department for 10 years, and is survived by two children.
