Sergeant Timothy Simpson, while on routine patrol in the 24th District, was struck and killed by a vehicle at the intersection of Aramingo and Allegheny Avenues in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia at 10:30pm. Sergeant Simpson was responding to a robbery call when his police vehicle was hit by another vehicle whose driver was under the influence, and who had also been evading police after running several red lights. Sergeant Timothy Simpson was 46 years-old, served with the Philadelphia Police Department for 20 years, and is survived by his wife, three children, and brother, who is also an officer in the Philadelphia Police Department.
