Joseph Friel

Officer Joseph Friel, assigned to the 5th District, was on routine patrol traveling southbound on Ridge Avenue near Acorn Street, when his car was hit by a drunk driver who had crossed into oncoming traffic at approximately 2:30am. Officer Friel suffered critical injuries as a result of the accident. Officer Friel was 25 years-old, served with the Department for less than one year, and is survived by his son, two sisters and a brother.
