William D. McCarthy

Police Officer McCarthy, assigned to the Mounted Patrol Unit, was fatally injured when a drunk driver struck him and his horse as they were crossing Broad Street at Pattison Avenue at 10:30pm. Officer McCarthy and his horse were both killed in the accident. He served in the Department for 10 years. He is survived by his wife and four children.
