James N. Mason

Police Officer James Mason, assigned to the 16th District, was shot and critically wounded by sniper fire from the Mantua Hall housing project, at 36th and Mellon Streets, while inside of his patrol vehicle on May 7, 1981 at 6:20pm, as he writing up paperwork from a previous incident. He succumbed to his injuries three days later. Officer Mason served with the Department for 5 years.
